Fallon double tops at Sandown

Kieren Fallon was the star of the show at Sandown today with a 14-1-plus double on Independence and Pantar.

The former champion was denied what would have been the middle leg of his hat-trick when Pantar`s stable-companion Drama Premiere was collared close home by Faithful Warrior.

Ian Balding`s Pantar took his career earnings through the Stg£100,000 barrier when getting on top through the last 100 yards of the SBJ Group Stakes, beating long-time leader Chief Cashier, trained by Balding`s brother, Toby, by half a length.

Fallon had an easier time on Ed Dunlop`s Independence, who gained the day in the SBJ Group Classified Stakes, bursting clear a furlong out to beat Silk Law by three and a half lengths.

Darryll Holland, reunited with an old boss in Barry Hills, delivered a decisive burst from Faithful Warrior to thwart Fallon and Drama Premiere in the Michael Simmonds Memorial Handicap.

The hard-pulling Faithful Warrior had come from last in the main pack turning for home to hit the front two strides from the post to score by half a length.

Pat Eddery was full of praise for Acclamation after he delivered the 6-4 favourite to take the EBF Maiden Stakes by a comfortable two lengths from Prince Dayjur.

Jockey Seb Sanders escaped injury when unseated by Gay Kelleway`s Beasley, the newcomer having ducked out to his left within strides of the start.
