Lorna Fowler is eyeing a novice chase campaign for her talented hurdler Colonel Mustard.

The French-bred gelding had an excellent campaign over flights since delivering in a maiden hurdle at Galway in October.

He chased home Jonbon in a Grade 2 novices' hurdle at Ascot before Christmas, and took third in both the Grade 1 novice hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival and the Grade 3 County Hurdle at Cheltenham.

"Colonel Mustard is great and is full of himself. We will keep options open, but there is definitely a chase campaign on the agenda. It doesn't have to be if that's not necessarily the way it goes. That would be the plan," Fowler said.

"It would probably be a while just to find a race for him. We'll sit tight for a bit, but we are really happy with him.

"Oh absolutely (go over to Britain for a race), but not in the beginning for a chase. If they are good enough, with the right opportunities, I have no problems ever travelling them and he travels really well.

"He possibly could get a little run on the Flat to sharpen him up."

Colonel Mustard was also placed in Grade 2 and Grade 1 company over flights in Fairyhouse and Punchestown respectively in April last year.
