Fenton appeals severity of disqualification Philip Fenton has lodged an appeal in relation to the severity of the three-year disqualification handed to the Cheltenham Festival-winning trainer by the Turf Club. Fenton was called before officials on Saturday after being found guilty of possessing anabolic steroids and other banned substances at a district court hearing in Carrick-on-Suir last month. His disqualification period from training horses is scheduled to begin from midnight on Friday, November 28. On March 1 next year he is due to be disqualified entirely from any horseracing environment. Turf Club spokesman Cliff Noone said: "He has lodged an appeal against the severity of the penalty. No date has been set for the appeal hearing. "
