La Chunga and Wake Up Maggie remain on course for the Stan James 1,000 Guineas on May 7 after impressing in respective post-racing workouts at Newmarket yesterday.

Trainer Jeremy Noseda worked Albany Stakes winner La Chunga with a three-year-old colt over six furlongs on the Rowley Mile.

The More Than Ready filly ? ridden by Frankie Dettori ? looked in fine fettle as she bowled past her companion inside the closing stages of their spin.

Noseda said: 'She did everything I could have asked and that's exactly what I wanted. It was a routine piece of work but I was happy with the way she went.

'Touch wood, everything remains on schedule for the 1000 Guineas and we will give it a whirl.'

Chris Wall was similarly upbeat after Wake Up Maggie ? second in the Cheveley Park ? stretched out over around seven furlongs in company with an older handicapper.

Alan Munro was on board as she asserted nicely towards the finish of their gallop to leave Wall more than satisfied.

He said: 'That was a good solid bit of work and Alan is very happy with her. He asked her to quicken past her lead horse and once she got to the front he didn't hustle her. I'm very pleased and she is on target for the 1000 Guineas.'

But Wall all but ruled out the prospect of being double-handed in the race after Expensive failed to shine in her spin under Eddie Ahern.

The Royal Applause filly struggled to assert in her exercise against another older handicapper.

He said: 'I thought Expensive laboured a bit. That probably puts her out of contention. She will have to be sharper than that.

'She may improve for the piece of work so we will have to see. But I suspect on the evidence of that, she won't be coming back for the 1000 Guineas.'
