Final race abandoned in Cork Cork was forced to abandon the final race on its Flat card today due to waterlogging, which was particularly visible at the four furlong pole. The following are the notes from the stewards' report: Following an inspection of the course prior to the running of the seventh race, Mr. T. V O'Connell I.H.R.B Clerk of the Course, reported to the Stewards that parts of the track had become waterlogged making it unfit for racing. Having considered Mr. O'Connell's report and viewed a recording of that area of the track, the Stewards abandoned the final race. Furthermore, Chepstow’s meeting on Wednesday has been abandoned because of waterlogging. The course failed an inspection on Tuesday morning after further heavy overnight rain on ground already described as heavy. Chepstow was hit by 55 millimetres of rain last week — and after a further 25mm, the course was unfit for racing.
