Fire drama at Cumani yard A potential disaster appears to have been averted at Luca Cumani's stable in Newmarket after all employees and horses were reported to have emerged unscathed from a fire on Monday morning. Cumani is based at Bedford House Stables on the Bury Road in English racing's major training centre and among the many horses in his care are Melbourne Cup hopes Mount Athos and Quest For Peace, while he was recently sent a dozen two-year-olds from the Wildensteins. Cumani provided an update on Twitter and said: "This morning's fire in the 'Top Ten' boxes is now almost under control. All horses and people are OK. "Huge thanks to Suffolk Fire & Rescue for an incredibly quick response and effective action."
