Five out with leg trouble

Willie Mullins revealed today that Fiveforthree has been ruled out for the season after suffering a recurrence of a tendon injury.

The grey had only returned to action last month having been on the sidelines since capturing the Grade One World Series Hurdle at Punchestown in April 2009.

He had been running a big race in the World Hurdle at Cheltenham last week, disputing third, until a mistake at the last flight saw him weaken to finish eighth.

"He's out for the season," confirmed Mullins. "He has had a recurrence of the tendon injury.

"We know he has an engine so he will be back. Thankfully that's the only bit of bad news we had from 24 or 25 runners at Cheltenham."

While Fiveforthree won't be bidding for a repeat in the three-miler at Punchestown the race is on the cards for champion mare Quevega.

"Quevega will run in the three-miler at Punchestown. She won't go to Aintree," added Mullins.
