Flight Team Favour Brit Test

Colin Tizzard is leaning towards the Brit Insurance Novices' Hurdle with Flight Leader.

The seven-year-old ran with credit against more experienced rivals in the Cleeve Hurdle at Prestbury Park last month and was a 10-length third to Blazing Bailey.

But unless there is a spate of withdrawals from the Ladbrokes World Hurdle, Flight Leader is likely to remain in novice company at the Festival.

'Unless two or three of the top horses were not to run in the World Hurdle he will go for the novice race but he is going to be left in both races at this stage,' revealed Tizzard.

'It wasn't until he won at Chepstow that we realised he could be decent.

'And when he beat Labelthou at Cheltenham that came out of the blue a bit and really surprised us.

'He is not a very impressive horse at home, just a very nice horse. He saves all his best performances for the racetrack.

'His form is rock-solid. We thought maybe Labelthou hadn't run to her form as she had had three quick races but she was 17 lengths clear of the third.

'His form stacks up with the very best all the way through. He has shown all his form in heavy ground so that would be ideal for the Festival.

'He was second at Wincanton to one of Paul Nicholls' (Leading Attraction) and that hasn't run since so that could also be rock solid,' he told At The Races.

Flight Leader is available at 50-1 for the World Hurdle but as low as 7-2 with Coral for the Brit Insurance Novices' Hurdle.
