The 9/1 shot took closer order nearing the end of the back straight and had established a clear lead by the time he approached the second-last. He saw out the two-mile-five-furlong trip well. Gambled-on favourite Duc De Regniere (9/2) found a second wind to briefly look like he might get closer than he did, but was eight lengths away in second crossing the line, with the front-running Gee Dee Nen keeping on for third. Scholfield said: "I got a dream run all the way. I got there a bit too soon, but I didn't want to disappoint him. It was his first time over the trip but I was convinced he'd get it. Andy has done a great job with him." Turnell added: "He is still only young, but has stayed well and handled the ground. He is in the totesport Trophy (16/1 from 25's with the sponsors) and I will also have a look at races like the Coral Cup." "He will go over fences next year. I was going to put him over fences this season as I see him as an Arkle horse, but it looks like the hottest Arkle for 100 years, so I decided to stick to hurdles."
