The final two races at Clonmel this afternoon were abandoned due to heavy fog.

Viewing from the stands at Powerstown Park was poor throughout the day but got progressively worse during the afternoon.

Much of the first five hurdle races was shrouded in mystery from racegoers, with camera positions at the end of the back straight and also on the bend into the home straight giving a brief glimpse of the action to those watching on television.

Officials decided to call a halt after the 2.40 race by which time it was difficult to see the horses until they were on the run-in.

The Jossesstown Handicap Chase and the Rathronan Maiden Hunters Chase were the two races abandoned.
