Fontwell and Catterick both go ahead

Racing today at Fontwell and Catterick got the all clear following morning inspections.

Fontwell clerk of the course Ed Arkell took an initial look at 7.00am which proved inconclusive following a cold night at the track.

However, temperatures soon rose and conditions duly improved, with Arkell giving the go ahead after taking a second look.

Catterick´s seven race card was only given the green light after passing an inspection at 10.30am.

Temperatures at the North Yorkshire track dropped well below freezing overnight, hitting as low as minus three, which left areas of the track frozen.

However, after taking an official look, clerk of the course Jonjo Sanderson was satisfied with conditions and gave the fixture the go-ahead.

Sanderson said: "Racing goes ahead. The going is good to firm but we´re fine to race."
