Serengeti completed a 512/1 four-timer for Aidan O'Brien at Naas when landing the concluding seven-furlong handicap under Mark Crehan.

The Jack Cleary-ridden pair Cape Cod (5/6 fav) and First Approach (6/1) were earlier winners on the card for Ballydoyle along with Tea Rose (3/1) under Ronan Whelan in race seven.

The master trainer was also amongst the winners at Newmarket where Pierre Bonnard landed the Zetland Stakes under Christophe Soumillon.

A maiden winner on the all-weather at two, the Wootton Bassett colt had been employed as a pacemaker in Group 1 races over a mile on three of his starts this season.

Any concerns that this may have soured him were laid to rest as he challenged near the stands' rail in the straight and led over a furlong out to beat Chicago Fireball by a length and half.

"The drop in class helped him. He’s a very good yard stick at home and leads the good horses," said 3lb claimer Crehan

“He can keep up a high tempo and is a class above them.

“It’s nice to get his head in front to keep his confidence up. I just kept things simple, and he was strong over the line.

“I think it’s nearly a year since I rode a winner so hopefully we can get a few more.”
