Gavin Cromwell and John McConnell are majestic at Cheltenham. Cromwell holds a 25% strike-rate at the track as he notched another winner at the Cotswold venue with La Malmason on Friday.

Among his previous Prestbury Park winners and one looking to continue Cromwell’s fine record on Saturday is Malina Girl. The smart mare struck at 11-2 last month, powering up the hill to shrug off her rivals by ten lengths; she is the fancy of Emma Nagle who tipped Slade Steel to beat a hot favourite at Navan last week.

John McConnell targets Cheltenham with similar success and boasts a €1 level-stakes profit of around €32. Today, he sends over Moon D’Orange, currently available at 12-1.

Emma Nagle, Vincent Finegan and Betting Expert’s Stephen Harris have picked out their tips for another excellent day of action.

EMMA NAGLE

MALINA GIRL 6/1 - Gavin Cromwell has had a lucrative time so far this year when visiting Cheltenham and Malina Girl could keep it up. She went up 10lbs for a wide margin win here last month but a very talented claimer will offset half of that penalty. She's only a handy mare so a light weight will help a lot in this type of race. At around 6/1 she looks a good bet.

STEPHEN HARRIS

CADELL 5/1 - Lucinda Russell’s promising novice let down backers when turned over at odds-on at Kelso in November, but that muddling small field did not suit and this stiffer stamina test should unlock plenty more improvement. He looked a smart prospect on hurdling debut in October, and this stiff three miles should suit ideally under regular rider Derek Fox.

GOOD LUCK CHARM 8/1 - Anthony Honeyball has a fantastic yard full of promising young horses this season, and his versatile mare is worth sticking with despite being raised up the weights for a shock 18/1 win at Wincanton in November. She has now won 3 of her 5 career starts over hurdles after failing to take to fences in six attempts last winter, and this extended 2m4f should suit under the excellent Sam Twiston-Davies.

VINCENT FINEGAN

TANGENTAL is a quirky sort, but has ability. JJ Slevin knows him well and has won on him twice before, including at this track. First time up after a break might be the best time to catch him in the right mood and if he is fit enough after 200 days off both the going and distance here should be ideal.
