Fourth Annual Rockview Bumper Series gets underway at Fairyhouse on Sunday The 2008 Rockview Bumper Series gets underway on Sunday at Fairyhouse with jockey Katie Walsh bidding to win the series for the third consecutive time. The series, generously sponsored by prominent Qualified Rider Barry Connell, is confined to amateur jockeys and is contested over 10 bumper races, culminating in the final of the series at The Curragh on May Bank Holiday weekend. The Qualified Riders Association expects another successful renewal and its secretary Thomas Carberry, older brother of jockeys Paul, Philip and Nina Carberry mentioned 'these bumpers are very popular races and there is every chance they may produce some Cheltenham contenders again this year.'He added 'over the last four years, we have seen jockeys have their first rides and winners in these races and what we are looking for, again, is for as many people as possible to take part in the series.'Among this year?s most likely candidates for the prize include last year?s winner Katie Walsh, Champion Amateur Jockey Nina Carberry and current leading amateurs Patrick Mullins, Kevin Power, Denis Cullen and Robert McNamara.Points totals will be updated on www.irishamateurjockeys.com, a useful site dedicated to the promotion of Qualified Riders in Ireland.
