Fox handed hefty Hexham ban Sligo man Derek Fox was banned for 17 days for using his whip above the permitted level at Hexham this afternoon. Fox finished second aboard Sean Airgead for Mark McNiff in the extended two-and-a-half-mile beginners' chase which was won by Flinty Bay. The local stewards took a dim view of his actions in the saddle, however, and hit the 7lb claimer with a lengthy suspension on various dates in late June and July.
