Resolute Racing, Coolmore & Westerberg-owned Giant Sequoia (4/9f) scored impressively on his second start today, landing the Curragh’s opening Barronstown Stud Irish EBF Maiden for trainer Aidan O’Brien and jockey Ryan Moore.

Defeated at today’s same odds when showing promise on debut here on June 3, the Frankel-sired colt today raced prominently and won easily by 2.25 lengths from stablemate Oklahoma Another near neighbour Shakespeare himself showed nice ability in finishing third, to give trainer O’Brien a 1-2-3 in the race.

O’Brien reported “Giant Sequoia had a lovely run here the first day and he came on lovely. He is a lovely big horse. You'd be delighted with him, I couldn't be happier really.

“He'll have no problem staying at seven (furlongs) and he'll have no problem going up to a mile. He'll only get better and is a big, powerful horse."
