Frankel on course for St James's Palace

Frankel tops 13 six-day declarations for the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot on Tuesday.

Henry Cecil's brilliant QIPCO 2000 Guineas winner is the star turn in a moutwatering Group One contest that has also attracted Dream Ahead and Wootton Bassett, forced to miss the Newmarket Classic.

Dubawi Gold, second in the both the English and Irish 2000 Guineas, is set to reoppose.

Aidan O'Brien has left in Alexander Pope and Zoffany while Grand Prix Boss is a fascinating runner from Japan and Temps Au Temps will represent France.

Runaway German 2000 Guineas winner Excelebration, Fury, Neebras, Rerouted and Tazahum complete the field.

Frankel had earlier impressed work watchers on the Newmarket gallops.

Tony Elves, Newmarket gallops reporter, told At The Races:

"He did his main work on the watered gallop and covered about seven furlongs under Shane Featherstonehaugh in company with his usual partner Bullet Train.

"There were no real question asked as he eased a couple of lengths clear.

"However Shane must have some very strong muscles because he was taking a very tight hold on the horse.

"Things have gone smooth as silk - there have been no blips.

"Let's hope that continues as he's one of the most exciting horses we've seen for many a year", Elves added.

Frankel is just 1-3 with totesport and 1-4 with Coral to take his winning streak to seven.
