Free Eagle has Derrinstown in his sights Exciting colt Free Eagle is set to start his three-year-old campaign in the Derrinstown Derby Trial at Leopardstown on May 11. The Dermot Weld-trained son of High Chaparral created a huge impression when winning his maiden at the Foxrock track in August, and was the odds-on favourite to build on that with victory in a Group Three event back at the same course the following month. However, he found Aidan O'Brien's Australia leaving him in his wake, going down by six lengths. Weld said: "He's in great form and he'll reappear in the Derrinstown Derby Trial. He's a good actioned horse, so there's no rush with him." Free Eagle is a general 14-1 chance for the Investec Derby at Epsom on June 7.
