Mouse Morris will run French Dynamite in the Horse & Jockey Hotel Chase at Thurles on January 22 before deciding on a Ryanair bid.

The Paddy Power Gold Cup runner-up was upped to Grade One class over Christmas and he travelled well for a long way in the Savills Chase before ultimately tiring into fifth.

While his stamina may have ebbed away in the final few furlongs, Morris was happy with his performance and feels there is still more to come.

“It looked like he just didn’t get home. He wasn’t beaten far in the end but it did look like he just didn’t get the three miles, in that company anyhow,” said Morris.

“Also because Darragh (O’Keeffe) was conscious of the trip, he couldn’t really let fly at his fences.

“I think we’re looking at Thurles next. He’s entered in the Ryanair but we’ll see how he gets on in the Kinloch Brae (Horse & Jockey Chase) before making a decision on that.”

Luckily for Morris and owners Robcour, just 35 minutes after the Savills Chase, the promising Gentlemansgame, rated 150 over hurdles, won on his chasing debut.

“I was pleased with Gentlemansgame, but you’d want him to do that with the way the weights were for that race,” said Morris.

“The way the programme book is there aren’t any races for him, so he’ll have to go up in class now.

“He’ll either go to Naas or Navan. I’d be keen to step him up in trip and the one at Naas is three miles I think (Finlay Ford At Naas Novice Chase, January 29).

“He’s had teething problems, he’s just been immature but when when he’s right, he’s a very good horse.

“We’ll have to see how he gets on next before we start talking about Cheltenham.”
