FRENCH RAID ON FOLKESTONE

French trainer Guillaume Macaire launches the first wave of a fresh assault on British prize money at Folkestone tomorrow.

Based at Les Mathes on the Atlantic coast, Macaire shot to prominence when he sent out Jair du Cochet and Imperial de Thaix to win at Chepstow on Coral Welsh National day.

While the latter has been snapped up by Martin Pipe, the former is set to run in the Wragge & Co Finesse Four Years Old Hurdle at Cheltenham on Saturday, where Macaire also has Grivery entered in the Byrne Bros Cleeve Hurdle.

His two runners at Folkestone would appear to be among the stable`s lesser lights.

Hasta Manana faces just three rivals in the opening Westenhanger Railway Station Novices` Hurdle.

The six-year-old mare finished second on her most recent start at Engien in November.

Broiswink must give weight to his four rivals in the Winter Hospitality Package Novices` Chase.

The gelding won an amateur riders` chase at Auteuil in November.
