Jockey Dylan Browne McMonagle continued his good recent run of form by winning the first three races on todays card. He completed this treble on Fresh Fade who won the Irish EBF Auction Series Maiden giving Michael O’Callaghan a double on the day at Naas.

The chestnut gelding made the early running but was joined and headed by Unbreakable Duke over two-furlongs out. Aqua Bear then sharply seized the initiative over one furlong out and soon went on.

However, Michael O’Callaghan’s son of Cotai Glory battled on under pressure to regain the advantage inside the final 50 yards and stayed on well close home to score by a neck at odds of 16/5.

Michael O’Callaghan said, “He’s a horse that we’ve liked and is very genuine which he showed today. Up to today he’s probably been a little bit too enthusiastic.

“He’d no luck the last day over seven at Gowran so we kept things simple and dropped back to six here.

“Dylan had a plan going out. He’d 10lb to find with Diego’s horse on paper and he rode him exactly as he said he would.

“He said the horse was good and relaxed and is learning. He’s a good mover and likes that ground.

“He’s in a nursery (at Navan) on Thursday so we’ll see how he comes out of it and he might run.”

The near 94/1 treble leaves Browne McMonagle four ahead (67-63) of Colin Keane in the jockeys championship.
