Fulbright shines in Woodcote Mark Johnston's Fulbright (3-1) won the Listed Investec Woodcote Stakes at Epsom. Ridden by Silvestre de Sousa, the Exceed And Excel colt broke smartly and helped to force the pace with the filly On The Dark Side. On The Dark Side ran around a little on the cambers and gave the winner a bump or two as she drifted to her right but it didn't stop the momentum of de Sousa's mount who ran out an emphatic winner. On The Dark Side wilted late on to be caught for second by Evervescent with the first three throughout the race itself the first three home. Caspar Netscher did best of those that tried to come from off the pace in making late gains for fourth whilst Kieren Fallon's mount, Norse Gold, raced too keenly early on and paid the price for that in the closing stages. "It was only his first run at Beverley and he made a lot of improvement from there to his next run, when he won at Musselburgh," said Johnston. "I'd like to think he could go to the Coventry Stakes now, and we've got Bannock who is more likely to go for the Windsor Castle."
