Dgalwaygallivantor stayed on best to get up late on and land the spoils in the Bar 1 Betting Handicap Hurdle at Cork.

The Gavin Cromwell-trained gelding had work to do as Caesar Rock and Happy Dreams fought it out going to the second-last but closed on the leading pair over the final flight.

He answered every call from Eoin Staples on the run-in to pip Happy Dreams close home for a hard-fought neck success in the two-and-a-half mile event.

The 12/1 winner was making his first start since finishing placed at Listowel in September 2024.

Cromwell said:- "The price might say it was a surprise but it wasn't, although it was his first run for a long time.

“It was a big field, but he was off a lower mark over hurdles than fences and he likes that ground. I fancied him to run well.

"He is a fine big horse and hopefully he can go on a bit."
