Galway Plate Day crowd and betting down Today's Galway Plate crowd was down marginally on last year's attendance at 20,446, while betting both with the Tote and bookmakers was also down compared with 2009. Last year's attendance was 294 higher but total crowds for the opening three days of the Festival are over 2,500 up on the corresponding period 12 months ago. The Tote aggregate suffered most on day three showing a 7% decrease on last year at €970,472. Turnover in the bookmakers ring was down over 2% at €2,484,547 compared with the 2009 total of €2,542,174.
