Gangster Granny strikes again at Downpatrick The Colin McBratney-trained Gangster Granny (6/1) was an easy winner of Downpatrick's Franco Hughes Away Bet Mares Handicap Hurdle for jockey Sean Flanagan. The five-year-old mare has now won three times over course and distance this summer and improved again, showing a really good attitude to win by six lengths. "She is just improving all the time," said McBratney "There's a race for her back here again, and it is just amazing what she is doing. "Nice prize today and a very competitive handicap. "She seems to have a bit of a fan club now! "She is brilliant for me and for James (Murdoch, owner) too. Bought cheap enough and Mrs Harrington said a change of yard might help her. "I worked her Thursday week ago and Sam, who rides her, said it was as good as he ever felt her. "She'll keep going during the summer. "Her half-sister (Ballinea Star) has won a Group 3 on the Flat."
