Garde Champetre heads Bolger quartet in cross country Enda Bolger will bid to continue his tremendous record in cross country races when saddling four runners in the Glenfarclas Cross Country Handicap Chase at Cheltenham tomorrow. Indeed Irish-trained horses dominate the line-up with ten of the 16 declared including last year's winner, the Tony Martin-trained Wonderkid. County Limerick based Bolger believes Garde Champetre, successful here at the Festival in March and second at the course last month, could prove the pick of his quartet saying, 'He's very well in himself and I'm expecting him to run a nice race again despite having top weight.' L'Ami finished fourth here last month, while Heads Onthe Ground is already a course winner. Bolger's other entry, Drombeag, won a similar event at Punchestown last time. 'We're hoping for a good run out of L'Ami and although his jumping is just taking a bit of time to come right, he ran a real good race round there last time on what was his first time there.' 'Drombeag won a cross-country at Punchestown really well and he has a nice weight with 10st 13lb. Heads Onthe Ground could make them all go at his best, but he is not running as well as he once was at the moment.' 'If L'Ami can improve on his run at Cheltenham the last day, he would have to have a chance but I would stick with Garde Champetre as my number one hope.' 'He has done it round there and we were unfortunate last time as Nina (Carberry) had a fall earlier on the card and had to miss the ride - he really goes well for her. She is back on board this time so we are hoping for the best,' added Bolger.
