Gemini set to go up in distance with Teal buoyed by Lockinge run Dancing Gemini is due to step up in trip for his next start after returning to form in the Lockinge on Saturday. The five-year-old son of Camelot was second by a neck in the same Newbury contest last season, a run that followed wins in both the Doncaster Mile and the bet365 Mile at Sandown. That latter success was the last time he was seen getting his head in front, with some blips on his record since, but when beaten just three lengths in fourth at the weekend he showed he is by no means without the ability he had shown prior. “He ran a very nice race and we thought he was unlucky not to come home third,” said Teal. Targeting Top Level Middle Distance Prizes “It was definitely a step in the right direction, a good solid run and it’s shown us that he’s still got it. “It’s given us a bit of confidence going forward, he’s in the Prince of Wales’s and he’s also in the Eclipse. “We’re very much thinking of stepping up in trip with him, we’ll be a bit wiser near the time and have more idea where we’re headed.” Teal’s previous stable star was once the top-class sprinter Oxted, who won the July Cup and the Royal Ascot race then known as the King’s Stand in a highly successful career. Salisbury Return for Stable Legend He last ran in 2021 — when a close third in the July Cup — and was eventually retired after several attempts to resume his career following spells out with injuries, but after displaying all of his old enthusiasm as a hack he has been returned to training as a 10-year-old. “He is on Saturday at Salisbury, in a Listed race,” said Teal, “All being well he’ll line up there. He’s as daft as ever and as crazy as ever, but he’s still loving life and and all seems to be well with him.”
