George Tempted By Aintree

Tom George is set to bypass the Cheltenham Festival with Nacarat and is already thinking of a tilt at the John Hughes Trophy at Liverpool.

The French import created a huge impression when winning by 14 lengths at Wincanton last weekend under Tony Dobbin.

'He'd been working nicely and schooling well so we weren't totally surprised, but obviously we were very pleased and he couldn't have done it better really,' said George.

'His jumping was excellent and he did everything very nicely, but the handicapper has reacted by putting him up 18lb.

'I put him in the Ryanair this week. He would need to improve quite a bit more for that, but you don't know at this stage so we gave him the option.

'I don't think he'll have any other entries at Cheltenham, actually I think the race for him, as Tony Dobbin suggested, would be the John Hughes at Liverpool and I might put him back over hurdles for the time being.'
