Geraghty reflects on terrific campaign Barry Geraghty reflected on a lucrative British campaign as he looks forward to the five-day Punchestown Festival. The jockey, who juggles his role as stable jockey to Seven Barrows-based Nicky Henderson with commitments on home soil in Ireland, has been the man for the big occasion in 2013-14. He notched a clutch of Grade One winners, including some notable spares as on Jezki in the Champion Hurdle and More Of That in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle. Geraghty also won the Irish Grand National for the first time on Shutthefrontdoor at Fairyhouse on Easter Monday, as well as ending the British campaign on a high with victory on the Henderson-trained Hadrian's Approach in the bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown on Saturday. "Things are going well, the horses are in good form and you get purple patches like that," he said. "It's great to ride big winners and it's been great to ride winners for JP (McManus) and Jonjo (O'Neill). They are such lovely men, I've been fortunate enough to ride a good few winners for them over the years and it's nice to have had a good few weeks with them as well." Geraghty's focus is now on Punchestown, where his opening day rides on Tuesday include Module in the Boylesports.com Champion Chase. "I ride Module for Tom George, who I'm looking forward to, I think he has a good chance," he said. "Likewise First Lieutenant, who is going to wear blinkers for the first time (in the Gold Cup). I think he could go well. "Beat That I believe is going for the three-mile novice hurdle and he has a chance."
