Gile Na Greine on target for Oaks

Jim Bolger snatched the Investec Oaks with Jet Ski Lady almost 20 years ago and is likely to try for a second success courtesy of Gile Na Greine after her third-place finish in the StanJames.com 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.

The full sister to last year's Guineas runner-up Cuis Ghaire may not have boasted the same level of form entering the mile Classic, but she stepped up to the mark and was beaten just a nose and a head by Special Duty and Jacqueline Quest.

Victor Chandler slashed her to 16-1 from 50s for the Oaks, while Paddy Power offer just 10-1.

Bolger said: "A mile is the bare minimum for her and I wish the race was over nine furlongs.

"She stays well and could go for the Musidora at York and she may be an Oaks filly."

Jockey Kevin Manning added: "She hit a flat spot going into the dip but was putting in her best work over the final 100 yards."
