Ginger McCain to be commemorated at Aintree Ginger McCain is to be commemorated by a statue that will be placed on the mound overlooking the parade ring at Aintree. The bronze portrait bust has been commissioned by the racecourse to celebrate the trainer of three-times Grand National winner Red Rum and 2004 hero Amberleigh House. It will be produced by British sculptor Nigel Boonham, whose previous work includes bronze portraits of Lord Runcie, Archbishop Daniel Mannix, Peter Jonas and Joseph Needham. His best-known portrait is of Diana, Princess Of Wales while other works include sporting personalities John McEnroe and Lord Coe. McCain's portrait will be his first of a horse racing personality. Commenting on the news, McCain's son Donald said: "When Aintree discussed the idea with us, we were thrilled that they had chosen to commemorate Dad's achievements with a bronze portrait bust. "It is fitting that it will be sited at Aintree, a place he held dear to his heart."
