Roger Varian's unbeaten filly Cursory Glance will be seen next in either the Pinsent Masons Lowther Stakes at York on August 21 or the Debutante Stakes at the Curragh three days later.

Owned by Craig Bennett's Merry Fox Stud, the two-year-old stepped up on an encouraging debut win at Kempton when running out an impressive winner of the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot.

The form has worked out nicely with Wesley Ward's Sunset Glow returning to America to win a Grade Two and the fifth, Richard Hannon's Osaila, taking the Princess Margaret Stakes.

Varian is considering whether to step the daughter of Distorted Humour up to seven furlongs in Ireland or keep her to six at York.

"The Lowther is on her agenda but failing that she could step up to seven furlongs for the Debutante Stakes at the Curragh on August 24. Both are Group Two races, so she wouldn't have a penalty in either," said the handler.

"She's working very well at home and I'm very happy.

"I would be worried about having to run her on soft ground as she's a very good moving horse, so that might have a bearing on where she goes. She'll always be seen to best effect on nice ground."
