Glen grabs golden opportunity There was drama at the final flight in the opening juvenile maiden hurdle at Cork as Glen To Glen inherited the lead to spring a slight surprise at odds of 16/1. Manoir De Mirande, the 5/6 favourite, still had a length advantage over the last but knuckled on landing and crashed out. Glen To Glen, who had stayed on to press going to the final flight, was left in front and kept on well, for Richie Deegan, in the closing stages to record a length victory over Ole Ole. The Joseph O’Brien-trained winner had been well held on his first couple of outings over jumps. "We trotted around, went very slow and being a horse coming off the Flat he has a bit of boot,” said Deegan. “He was able to travel into the straight and while I don't know how Jack (Kennedy, on leader Manoir De Mirande) was going - I'd say he wasn't stopping, but he battled on. "He had a little look at the last but has come on in his hurdle runs and hopefully he can keep progressing. We'll learn more about him again the next day." (Quotes by Tom Weekes)
