Glory Set For Sandown Date

Resplendent Glory remains bang on course to step up to Group company and take on older horses for the first time at Sandown on Saturday.

The improving three-year-old colt will tackle seasoned campaigners in the Group Three Laurent-Perrier Champagne Sprint Stakes on the back of a victory against his own age group over the same five furlongs three weeks ago.

'He´s a definite runner at this stage. We´ve got no option as there aren´t any three-year-old only races for him - so you have to step up against older horses,' said trainer Terry Mills´ assistant Richard Ryan, who has no worries about the going.

'The ground should be fine as the clerk of the course there is one of the best in the business at producing a good racing surface,' he went on.

'There is rain around at some stage this week. Good ground would be okay, good to soft would be even better.'

The draw over the straight five-furlong course at Sandown tends to be significant with high numbers usually having an advantage.

Ryan added: 'The draw is likely to play an important part as the margins in these races are so tight.'

But any possible problem with the draw could be balanced out by the likely strong gallop.

'He loves a furious pace as it helps him relax and get into a rhythm,' concluded Ryan.
