It seemed to ride testing enough at Leopardstown on Saint Stephen’s Day for the first day of the Christmas Festival, and that will be the case again for Friday’s card featuring two Grade Ones and the very valuable Paddy Power Handicap Chase.

The going description is soft, soft to heavy in places on the hurdle and bumper track, and soft, yielding in places on the chase track after 4mm of overnight rain.

The forecast is for it to remain mostly dry for today and the rest of the week.

Limerick was clearly testing as their Christmas Festival began with a memorable performance by Faugheen in the Grade One novice chase.

The going remains heavy at Greenmount Park after 5mm of rain in the last 24 hours.

The weather forecast is for it to stay mainly dry for today and the weekend.
