Golden & Cougar among Coral-Eclipse five Cougar Mountain will be Aidan O'Brien's representative in the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown on Saturday. The Fastnet Rock colt ran a career-best when third behind Solow in the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot and will step to a mile and a quarter for the first time at the weekend. O'Brien took out his dual 2000 Guineas hero Gleneagles, who is expected to run next against Solow in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood. The Ballydoyle trainer said of Cougar Mountain: "We will step him up in trip now and he'll go for the Eclipse," said O'Brien. In the absence of New Bay, five horses stood their ground for the Group One feature, led by unbeaten Investec Derby hero Golden Horn. His form was boosted by the brilliant performance of his stablemate and Epsom runner-up Jack Hobbs in the 150th Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at the Curragh on Sunday. Golden Horn bids to become the first three-year-old winner of 10-furlong showpiece since John Oxx's Sea The Stars in 2009. Trainer John Gosden has been delighted with the unbeaten son of Cape Cross since his Classic success. "Frankie (Dettori) was thrilled with his work on Saturday morning. He did a lovely seven furlongs on the watered gallop with a good older horse rated 118 and he skipped clear of him," the Newmarket handler told At The Races. "He's in good order and at the moment touch wood he's going the right way." Gosden has also left in Western Hymn, who is a three-times winner over the course and distance. The four-year-old was third in the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot on his latest start and is set to renew rivalry with The Grey Gatsby who finished two and three-quarter lengths ahead of him in second place when just short-headed by Free Eagle. The other possible is Andrew Balding's admirable seven-year-old Tullius.
