Good entry for Great Voltigeur A total of 46 entries have been received for the Neptune Investment Management Great Voltigeur Stakes at York in August. The Group Two contest run over a distance of a mile and a half is considered to be a significant trial for the following month's St Leger, the final Classic of the season. Lucarno is the most recent of the 13 horses to win both races although Encke won at Doncaster last season, having finished third on the Knavesmire behind Thought Worthy. John Gosden, the trainer of both Thought Worthy and Lucarno, is responsible for six of the entries, including Flying Officer who, like the aforementioned pair, is owned by George Strawbridge. Predictably, Aidan O'Brien leads the way with 16 entries although Derby winner Ruler Of The World is not among them with a drop back to 10 furlongs mooted following his defeat in the Irish Derby. The placed horses from Epsom, Libertarian and Galileo Rock, are both entered while Sir Michael Stoute could run his one-time Epsom Derby hope Telescope. Stoute has also entered impressive Royal Ascot winner Hillstar and Arab Spring who finished second in a Newmarket maiden on his sole start to date. There are also three entries from France with Andre Fabre's Au Revoir joined by Manndawi and Shikarpour from Alain de Royer-Dupre's yard.
