Good to Firm ground at Leopardstown The going is on the fast side of good for the first leg of Irish Champions Weekend at Leopardstown today. The south Co Dublin venue had just 1mm of rain yesterday morning, and the ground is currently described as good to firm on both the inner and outer tracks. The eight-race card, with two Group 1 races including the QIPCO Irish Champion Stakes and total prize-money of over €2.4 million, gets underway at 3.20pm. Irish Champions Weekend continues with four Group 1 events at the Curragh tomorrow including the Comer Group International Irish St Leger, and the first of eight races commences at 2pm. Following 1.5mm of rain the going remains good to yielding (yielding in places) on the straight course, while the round course is good. The weather forecast is for further rain tonight (possibly 3-4mm) with a dry day tomorrow. Racing also takes place this afternoon at Listowel where the seven-day Festival meeting concludes with an all National Hunt card. The going is soft following a dry night, and the eight-race fixture begins at 1.45pm.
