Goodwood In Tip Top Condition

Goodwood racecourse is reported to be in tip-top condition ahead of the the five-day Glorious meeting next week.

With the going described yesterday as good on the straight course and good to firm on the round course and watering as necessary, officials aim to produce the best-possible ground.

'We are delighted with the condition of the course. We have had the driest six months since 1976 but have managed to retain moisture in the ground by watering,' said clerk of the course Seamus Buckley yesterday.

'We are looking forward to producing the very best possible Flat-racing ground on Tuesday, the first day of the meeting.

'The track has been watered today and we will continue to water as necessary. Showers are possible on Saturday and Sunday which would be the icing on the cake.'
