Gowran has passed a 4.30pm inspection and the course is fit for racing ahead of tomorrow’s high-profile Thyestes Chase card.

Heavy rain has fallen in recent days and while some doubt was cast by the announcement of the afternoon inspection, anticipated further showers of rain failed to arrive.

I am pleased to say the track passed the 4.30pm inspection and the ground remains heavy. I’m happy to say the track is fit to race

Clerk of the Course provides positive update

IHRB Clerk of the Course Paddy Graffin reports “I am pleased to say the track passed the 4.30pm inspection and the ground remains heavy. We have had just 0.5mm of rain since our update today at lunchtime, so I am happy about that.

“We do have the potential for up to 5mm before racing — 2mm tonight and potentially 3mm through the day tomorrow but I’m happy to say the track is fit to race and we’re looking forward to a great day for the Goffs Thyestes Chase meeting tomorrow.”

Tomorrow’s €100,000.00 Goffs Thyestes is the highlight of a seven-race card, which begins at 12,40pm.
