Grann's Boy exploits lenient Flat mark to score for Rogers A winner over hurdles at the recent Listowel Festival, the Harry Rogers trained Grann's Boy made the most of a much lower rating on the Flat to take the concluding www.thurlesraces.ie Handicap. Sent off 7/4f in the colours of the Nap Racing Syndicate, the market leader was settled in mid division by jockey Adam Caffrey. Pushed along over two furlongs out, the five-year-old came through to throw down a strong challenge to leader Migdam over 100 yards out. Finding plenty for pressure Grann's Boy led in the dying strides to score by a head. Adam Caffrey said: "He was good and fit and Harry had him ready. The biggest worry today was the ground but thankfully he got away with it. "Colin (Keane, on Goin') actually hit the stick out of my hand at the two-furlong marker out so we were lucky to win. I didn't get to hit him so for a horse to win like that means he is good and tough. "At the top of the hill, they quickened and got away from me a bit and I didn't have the pace to go with them so he needed every yard of the two miles. Having momentum going down the hill helped us and he was tough." Additional reporting by Thomas Weekes.
