Grey Swallow on course for English 2000 Guineas. Grey Swallow, generally priced at 6/1 for the English 2000 Guineas, has been given the go-ahead for that race by trainer Dermot Weld following a workmanlike win at Leopardstown on Sunday.Although the colt failed to impress most observers, Weld stated that the son of Daylami is 'on track' for the English Classic. He added 'Grey Swallow has come out of his race well but, as I´ve said before, I just hope the English Guineas doesn´t come too quick.'Weld also reported that Grey Swallow received a mark following an incident in the closing stages of Sunday´s race, when he was accidentally struck by the whip of Declan McDonogh, who was riding eventual third Amarula Ridge. He said 'he got hit pretty hard and the mark is across his forehead. Having watched the video, he just hesitated in his run and lost some momentum. It probably cost him half a length.'
