Griffin issues Kazal warning Eoin Griffin has warned punters not to expect too much from Kazal when he makes his return from injury in the Dunshaughlin Hurdle at Fairyhouse tomorrow. The nine-year-old was third in the 2008 World Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, but has been off the track for over a year due to problems with his wind. "He seems in good nick, but he's had a number of breathing operations and this is his first run back," said the trainer. "I don't think we'll be seeing the Kazal of old as he's not been showing us as much as he used to at home. We'll just take it one day at a time with him, but the conditions of this race suit him well. "Footy Facts and Healys Bar are two horses that have been running well recently, so if we can finish third behind them and don't get beaten too far, I'll be happy. "If all goes well the plan would be to go for a beginners' chase somewhere after this, but we'll just have to see. "If he doesn't show us anything we'll probably retire him as he's been a good horse to us and we won't be letting him run out the back all the time. "He's been for a few away days and ran well enough in a schooling bumper recently, but this is his acid test."
