Connections don't want the ground conditions at Newmarket to ease significantly for leading Betfred Cesarewitch fancy Olympiad.

Trained by Dermot Weld and owned by Sir Robert Ogden, Olympiad sprang to prominence with an easy victory at York's Ebor meeting in August.

Barry Simpson, Ogden's racing manager, said on Wednesday: "He's in great form.

"He worked yesterday morning and Dermot was really happy with him.

"The big question as to how good a chance we think he has really depends on how much rain there is - and obviously there's not much we can do about that.

"He has run well on testing ground before at Galway but he's much better on decent ground as he showed at York. It wouldn't stop us running, I wouldn't have thought.

"It's going to be his last run of the season and Newmarket tends to miss the worst of rain and drains well."
