Ground drying for Galway Galway will provide fairly easy underfoot conditions as the week-long festival meeting kicks off on Monday. While British racecourses continue to suffer during the dry summer, recent rain at Ballybrit has eased the course manager John Moloney's problems as he gears up to the busiest few days of his calendar. "The going is good to yielding, yielding in places and the forecast is for sunny spells and showers," reported Moloney. "We were watering back in June but we had heavy ground last week. "Everything is spot-on and I think a special compliment is owed to our staff for all their hard work. "It should be another great week and advance bookings are quite good - a little up on last year as we have had a bit of a rush in the last few days."
