Ground eases after weekend rain

The Curragh had an inch of rain over the weekend and the ground for today's Bank Holiday fixture (first of eight races off at 1.10pm) is yielding, yielding to soft in places (Straight) and yielding (Round).

It's set to be mainly dry today with the possibility of a shower.

The new National Hunt season kicks off at Down Royal where the first of seven races goes to post at 2.00pm. The Northern venue had 15mm of rain over the weekend and the ground is good to yielding, yielding in places. Again a mainly dry day is predicted with the chance of an odd shower.

Looking ahead to Gowran's Flat meeting on Wednesday, the ground is yielding, soft in places after 7mm of rain yesterday and there is a chance of showers in the coming days.
