Ground to dictate Medicean plan Jeremy Gask will look for the right race on suitable ground to give Medicean Man every chance of winning a Group race. The Invincible Spirit Sapphire Stakes at the Curragh on July 18 is one of the sprints Gask will consider for his stable stalwart, who was only beaten a short head by Goldream in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot. "He came out of the race beautifully. I'm really pleased with him. He's such a little warrior. He's a marvel to have around the place and he deserves to win a nice race," the Wiltshire handler told At The Races. "He's nine but you wouldn't know that looking at him. "We're going to enter him in a few races and just see. It's weather-related. He just wouldn't want to go on soft ground. "We took him over to France previously (when eighth to Muthmir in the Prix du Gros-Chene at Chantilly) and it rained for about three hours prior to the race. "We'll probably just follow from Listed grade to Group races and we'll just follow the best ground if we can. We'll stick to five, five and a half furlongs. That's his game."
