A 26-race maiden coming into Dundalk's Irishinjuredjockeys.com Claiming Race, Guest Star (11/1) finally made the breakthrough under Declan McDonogh.

Soon in the 'box seat' behind the leaders on the rail, the Jeffrey Brennan-owned winner headed Deed Pole entering the final quarter-mile and was driven out to beat that rival by three-parts of a length.

Winning trainer Mark Fahey said: "The horse deserves it and Jeff deserves it too.

"He's been placed and he has gathered up a lot of prize money, and the horse deserves to get his head in front.

"He'd be a good, fun horse if someone is going to claim him - we would be happy enough to hold on to him as well.

"He goes on that surface and goes with a bit of cut in the ground, too. We have options with him and that might give him a bit of confidence."

The winner was claimed for 5,000 Euro by trainer John McConnell.
