Guineas Weekend Preview On a historic weekend in Britain when jubilant festivities will dominate for the coronation of King Charles III, it looks like the Irish raiders could dampen the party atmosphere at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile. The Irish challenge looks exceptionally strong with favourites for the first Classics of the Flat season both travelling across the Irish Sea. BoyleSports are offering a host of specials for new and existing customers this weekend, including money back on all losers in the 2:15 and extra places on the following nominated races on Saturday: 2.50 Newmarket 23 Runners - 5 Places 3.25 Newmarket 17 Runners - 5 Places 4.00 Newmarket 17 Runners - 4 Places 4.40 Newmarket 2000 Guineas - 4 Places 3.40 Thirsk 15 Runners - 4 Places 2000 Guineas Fourteen line up in Saturday’s Qipco 2000 Guineas at Newmarket. Among them, is hot favourite Auguste Rodin, who has won three of his four starts to date, including the Group One Futurity Trophy at Doncaster last October. Trainer Aidan O’Brien rates the Deep Impact colt highly and he has been touted as a possible Triple Crown contender at this stage. Exceptionally popular in the betting, this potential superstar is highly fancied to give Aidan O’Brien another 2000 Guineas crown. Phoenix Stakes winner Little Big Bear is also saddled by O’Brien, having won four of his five runs and last year’s top-rated European juvenile. The home defence is headed by Chaldean with Andrew Balding’s charge, who aims to give Frankie Dettori victory in the mile Classic in what is the rider’s final season before retirement. Chaldean won the Dewhurst Stakes over seven furlongs on the Rowley Mile last term, with Dettori being unseated from the horse on his return in last month’s Greenham at Newbury. Royal Scotsman reopposes for Paul and Oliver Cole and is definitely one to consider for each-way value after being beaten just a head by Chaldean in the Dewhurst, his form is strong and his trainer is full of confidence. Sakheer is a leading contender for Roger Varian after winning the Mill Reef last term and is very well regarded by connections at home. 2:15 Newmarket - money back all losers BoyleSports are giving you the chance to get money back on all losers in the Listed Ellen Chaloner Stakes. When Michael Dods travels his sprinters down to Newmarket, chances are you will get a good run for your money. His tough and hardy mare Gale Force Maya loves the Rowley Mile, having won twice at the track. Last time out, however, she was beaten by stablemate Azure Blue who reopposes today. Azure Blue is less exposed than her stablemate having won her last two starts and has triumphed three times at Newmarket, she is the pick of the field. George Boughey saddles the three-year-olds in the field, with William Buick taking the ride aboard Perdika who ran a promising second behind Group 3 winner Happy Romance at Bath last month. 1000 Guineas This year’s fillies’ Classic is bursting with class and Tahiyra looked exceptional when winning the Moyglare Stakes last year, beating today’s Irish rival Meditate by 2.5 lengths. Aidan O’Brien feels the ground was not ideal for Meditate that day and the No Nay Never filly proved her ability to stay the mile when running out an impressive winner at the Breeders’ Cup. Preference is for Tahiyra who is unbeaten in two starts and the form of her Moyglare win has worked out very well. The yard might not be firing out the winners but Dermot Weld is adamant that she has progressed since last season and will have her spot on for this Also unbeaten in two starts is Remarquee for trainer Ralph Beckett, who is known for his ability to get fillies right for the big days. His daughter of Kingman was an impressive winner of the Fred Darling at Newbury last time and could be worth a shout each-way. Beckett is also runs Lezoo who steps up two furlongs in distance on Sunday. Please ensure you play responsibly when choosing to gamble.
