Gunner could have a run on the Flat Bumper and maiden hurdle scorer Gunner Mcgregor could have his next start on the level, as he attempts to return to top form after a disappointing display at the Galway festival. Eamonn 'Dusty' Sheehy is content in the knowledge that his charge didn't give his true running when towards the rear at Ballybrit though, in a novice hurdle that went in extraordinary circumstances to Penhill. Ruby Walsh managed to get Penhill home in front after his mount had hit 1,000 in the in-running markets on the betting exchanges, but Gunner Mcgregor had no more to give from the second last flight on that occasion. "He scoped wrong after Galway. He actually scoped wrong twice because we thought we might get to run him at Gowran on the Flat since," revealed Sheehy. The County Kilkenny-based operator added: "He's under a bit of a treatment there at the moment so hopefully he'll be right in the next week. "He's doing bits of cantering but he's not ready enough to run. "He has loads of boot — he's not slow at all so running him on the Flat is definitely an option. "In Galway he stopped too quick. There had to be some little bit of an excuse for that. If that was as good as he was, he was a long way removed from what we thought he could be. "Hopefully we'll see the real horse again now in a couple of weeks."
